For this task, we had to create a book based on any topic we picked, from eggs to dream psychology. We delved deep
into what a book could be presented as, and explored every facet of the topic we could through our books.
A book that unccovers the topic of phobias. I've often wondered what it is like for people to have phobias, as well as how phobias affect people's daily lives. This book is
complete with uncomfortable close-up images and sound effects to mimic the fear a phobic feals when confronted with phobic stimuli.
A book about buildings -- specifically, Hong Kong's caged apartments, where space is a precious commodity and a highly priced one. In this 3D book, I attempted
to dissect the elements of such buildings, and as each layer peels away, we take a closer, zoomed in look into the building's components.
an artist book on teenage girls. why teenage girls? because im a teenage girl in a teenage world and they are simply an accessible subject matter in this
bleak period of time. this book shows the multi-faceted teenage girl. but if truth be told, this book has barely scratched the surface.
A (very abstract) book on scars. Scars are so much more than skin-deep accidents, they each have a story.
My book is about what stuffed toys mean to me as I am very drawn to cute little things. Personally, stuffed toys are the
primarily the little mementos I bring home from overseas trips or objects that hold unique childhood memories to me.
elody's artist book explores the subconscious.
Another one of our apple tasks was to create an installation (a site specific, 3-dimensional work, that serves to transform the site in terms of meaning and purpose). We were given a time limit of 30 minutes, with access to any tools we needed from the art room, and constrained to not going beyond the windy benches in school. Though it wasn't a requirement to include an apple in our installations, most of us did (yes, we were hopelessly devoted to apples).
